Ross - Welcome everyone to the Free For All! I'm Jim Ross here
alongside Jerry "The King" Lawler, and you're only ten minutes
away from Wrestlemania I, what is without doubt, gonna be the
most historic pay per view ever seen!

King - Well it really is JR, you gotta wonder what tommorow night is
gonna be like if ECW can pull out a victory. You know, I've kept
out of this recently, and taken some time off, and you know
I've never had any good words for any of this WWF team, but
       I'm cheering them on tonight.

Ross - Of course we will have the five match main event, but that's
not all. The Rock and Jeff Jarrett will clash for the European
title, a situation that could become problematic if Team WWF
loses tonight, as JJ will be out of the WWF! The Rock will be
in action twice tonight as well, he's gonna go one on one with
Owen Hart! Put all that together with LOD vs The Midnight Express,
and Psychosis and Taka Michinoku against Too Much, and you've
got one hell of a card! But now lets get to some Free For All
       Action!

Marc Mero vs Adam Bomb

Mero and Bomb clash in a rematch of their match a few weeks ago on Raw. Mero got the pinfall on that occasion, and Bomb is out to set the record straight tonight. Bomb takes Mero down with a Thesz press right off the bat, and starts pounding away. Mero finds himself then being picked up and press-slammed to the outside. Whilst Mero recuperates on the outside, Bomb climbs the turnbuckles and raises his hands to the crowd, the crowd giving him a fair amount of face heat. The crowd gets louder as Bomb hits a flying clothesline on the Marvelous One to the outside. Mero is crotched on the guardrail as the action continues on the outside. Mero manages to finally get the advantage in this match as he blocks Bomb, and sends him into the ringsteps. Bomb staggers for a moment, and Marc Mero goes up top and nails him with a corkscrew plancha! Bomb is out on the outside, and Mero returns to the ring for the countout victory.

Marc Mero defeated Adam Bomb by countout in 02-37 --- **

Ross - A good match to start this incredible evening. Folks, there's
less than five minutes left for you to call your cable operator
and order the Grandaddy of them all, Wrestlemania! Let's just run
       through the card once more.

Ross - Folks, we're out of time. Join us in a few minutes for
       Wrestlemania I!

Wrestlemania I
March 29th 1998
Boston, Massachusetts

Never before in the history of professional wrestling, has one promotion ever made a full scale assault on their rivals. Until now, Extreme Championship Wrestling, was relegated to the confines of being third choice, the third wheel. Until now. Tonight, we may not only wave goodbye to five of the all time greats, but also to the greatest of them all, the World Wrestling Federation. Will we see a new era for professional wrestling tonight? Or will the World Wrestling Federation prove to the world once and for all, that this, is where the big boys play!

Ross - Welcome everyone to the biggest night in wrestling history!
Welcome to the Boston Garden! And welcome to Wrestlemania! What
a night it's gonna be, nine huge matches to take place tonight,
five of which will determine the future of wrestling!

King - It's gonna be an incredible night JR. As well as the ECW/WWF
confrontation, we've got the final of the European title
tournament, Jeff Jarrett vs Rocky Maivia!

Ross - The Rock will be in action twice tonight, as will Jeff Jarrett!
But now, let us all rise for the singing of the Star Spangled
Banner, sung tonight by Ugandan Giant, Kamala!

Ross - A stirring rendition there, and now let's get straight into
       our opening contest!

Fink - Ladies and gentleman, this is our opening contest of
Wrestlemania I! Introducing first, at a combined weight of
four hundred and seventeen pounds, Scott Taylor, and the World
Wrestling Federation Crusierweight Champion Brian Christopher,
       Too Much!

Finkel - And their opponents, at a combined weight of three hundred
and seventy nine pounds, the team of Psychosis and Taka
         Michinoku!

Ross - Remember folks, a stipulation made earlier today, if Psychosis
and Taka win this match, whomever scores the winning pinfall.
will receive a cruiserweight title shot against Brian Christopher,
tommorow night. Let's get under way!

Psychosis/Taka Michinoku vs Scott Taylor/Brian Christopher

The former cruiserweight champion Psychosis and Scott Taylor are the men who kick things off for Wrestlemania. Out of the lock up, Psychosis executes a go behind, and then a belly to belly suplex, taking Taylor down. Taylor looks severely out classed and Psychosis nails him with a flying senton. The resulting cover produces a two count, which Psychosis is dumb enough to protest, allowing Taylor to hit him from behind. Taylor dishes out a few kicks to the midsection, before hitting a piledriver for a two count of his own. A suplex is then executed and then he tags in the champion.

Psychosis gets hit with a double clothesline as Taylor and Christopher double team him. Taka tries to help his partner but is halted by the referee. Too Much double team for a while, until Taka finally does enter the ring and throws Taylor out, to the cheers of the crowd. Christopher then tries to go after Michinoku, but Psychosis dropkicks him from behind. Taka is then tagged in for the first time, and he hits a high cross body block on Brian for a two count with his first move.

After pulling Christopher up, Taka sends him into the ropes and nails him with a flying forearm. An attempted suplex though is blocked and reversed by B.C. though, and Taka is dragged into Too Much's corner. The heels dominate Taka in their corner for the next few minutes, with very little *cruiserweight* action going on.

Their dominance in this period isn't enough to win the match though, as the inevitable miscommunication spot takes place. A flying axehandle from Taylor misses it's intended target, sending Christopher to the mat, and allowing Taka to finally make the tag. Psychosis simply enters the ring, grabs Taylor and nails him with a hurracanrana. And that's all she wrote.

Psychosis and Taka Michinoku defeated Too Much when Psychosis pinned Scott Taylor with a hurracanrana in 6-01 --- **

Ross - What a start to Wrestlemania I! Per the stipulation, Psychosis
will receive a title shot and a chance to regain the belt tommorow
       night!

King - Well I have to say I think it's a conspiracy JR. Since when has
a hurracanrana been legal in the WWF? It's ridiculous!

Ross - Be that as it may, that match I'm assured, will take place
tommorow night, regardless of whether it's WWF Raw, or the ECW
Warzone. Our next contest however, will feature The Rock taking
on Owen Hart. Let's take a look at what happened, this past week
       on Raw.

(Clips of the finish and aftermath of the Owen/Jarrett match from March 23rd Raw are shown)

Ross - Now let's take you backstage where The Rock himself is standing
       by. Rock?

Rock - First off, before The Rock expresses his dissatisfaction and
talks about the incredulous ignorance of the WWF in making The
Rock wrestle twice tonight, I need to make an statement of sorts
to Owen Hart. Owen? You wanted a piece of The Rock, well you got
it. And in case there was any doubt, the Rock is gonna finish
you off in short order, so that Jeff Jarrett can also get a feel
of The Rock's true potential. Jarrett? You think you're so high
and mighty because you're on Team WWF? Well The Rock is gonna
bring you crashing down to earth with one hell of a fall! Now
get the cameraman out of here, I gotta prepare.

Finkel - The following contest is schedueled for one fall, with a
twenty minute time limit. Introducing first, from Calgary,
Alberta, Canada, weighing in at two hundred and twenty seven
         pounds, Owen Hart!

Finkel - And his opponent, hailing from Miama, Florida, weighing in at
two hundred and eventy two pounds, The Rock!

Owen Hart vs Rocky Maivia

Owen goes right after The Rock straight after the bell, pummeling with left and right hands. Maivia manages to pull himself free of Owen's grip though, and jumps to the outside. When the Rock returns to the ring, the match becomes more wrestling orientated. After the lockup, Maivia hooks Owen into an abdominal stretch, but Owen flips him over his shoulder and then nails him with a dropkick. The Rock quickly gets back to his feet but an enziguiri knocks him right back down. Owen's cover only gets a count of two.

As Rocky gets back to his feet, Owen sends him into the ropes and then wraps on a sleeper hold, which Maivia easily powers out of. A couple of stiff kicks to the chest has Owen doubled over, and a kneelift knocking him down establishes the Rock in control. A barrage of punches and kicks wear Owen down, and Hart goes down to the mat after a bodyslam. Maivia then signals for the Peoples Elbow and hits it. This produces only a two count, a decision that makes the Rock grimace.

Rocky dominates for a while more, never really looking like finishing Owen off, until out of nowhere we gets hit with a DDT! Hart jumps to his feet and tries to execute the Sharpshooter, but Rocky wriggles around like all hell and eventually falls out of the ring. The Rock takes a second to contemplate things, and then hightails it out of the ringside area! There is nothing Owen can do about it, and he has to settle for the unsatisfactory countout win.

Owen Hart defeated Rocky Maivia by countout in 5-29 --- **.5

Ross - Well Owen isn't happy about that one bit, that isn't the decision
       he was looking for.

King - I think that was great. Great strategy by The Rock. It was
totally unfair that Commisioner Slaughter was gonna make The
Rock wrestle twice in one night, and The Rock showed how smart
       he really is right there.

Ross - Be that as it may, we're gonna take you backstage where I
believe Jeff Jarrett is on hand. Double J, you're gonna have to
wrestle twice tonight as well, one of those matches could end
up costing you your career. How are you preparing for tonight?

Jarrett - Ha ha, don't worry about me JR. I've got everything planned
out perfectly. Tommorow night, you can count on Jeff Jarrett
being there, and he'll be there as the European Champion,
without a shadow of a doubt.

Ross - Confident words there from Jeff Jarrett. Because of Jarrett's
involvement in the European title match, his match with Chris
Candido has been moved back to the last match of the evening,
that is if it's even neccessary. As we are only a few moments
away from the opening match of the series, let's just make the
rules perfectly clear. Five matches. Whichever team leads the
series after these five matches, will win the series. I don't
need to tell you what happens then. If, after all the matches,
for whatever the reason the series is level, then a ten men tag
team match will take place at the end between all members of
Team WWF and Team ECW. Remember though, losing an individual
match does not mean that the loser has to leave the WWF, unless
his team loses the series, and vice versa.

King - You done JR?

Ross - Pretty much. Current tag team champion Sycho Sid is gonna take
       on Rob Van Dam next!

Finkel - The following contest, scheduled for one fall, is the
opening match of the ECW vs WWF Series! Introducing first,
representing ECW, from Battle Creek, Michigan, weighing two
hundred and twenty seven pounds, "Mr Monday Night" Rob Van Dam!

Finkel - And his opponent, representing Team WWF, hailing from
West Memphis, Arkansas, weighing in at three hundred and
thirty two pounds, he is one half of the World Wrestling
Federation Tag Team Champions, Sycho Sid!

(ECW/WWF Match One) Sycho Sid vs Rob Van Dam

Sid manhandles Van Dam in the opening minutes. Van Dam gets in little to no offence as Sid pummels away on him, putting him in a camel clutch for a period of time. From there, Sid's offence consists of nothing but power move after power move. A powerslam comes close to giving Sid the victory on four minutes. The match continues in this fashion, with Sid unable to put Van Dam away, until Sid uncharacteristically goes to the top turnbuckle. Sid misses the attempted elbowdrop and Van Dam seizes his opportunity.

After executing a bodyslam, Van Dam goes up top himself. He is successful in his attempt, nailing Sid with a splash for a two count. Van Dam nails a clothesline and then executes a moonsault for another two count. Van Dam has several close pin attempts during this period, but like Sid, he can't seem to put his opponent away.

The match evens out as the action spills to the outside. Both men make visits to the guardrail and the ringsteps. The brawl goes up and down the ramp and all around the ring area as the two men really go at it. When the action returns to the ring it doesn't last long, as "Stone Cold" Steve Austin makes his way to the ring! He makes no effort to hide his actions, as he enters the ring and stunners Van Dam! The referee has no option but to ring the bell and give Van Dam the DQ win.

Rob Van Dam defeated Sycho Sid by dq in 12-43 --- -.75*

(ECW leads the series 1-0)

Ross - I'm sick to death of this asshole! What is he trying to prove,
and what the hell is his problem?

King - Calm down JR, there's a long night ahead of us here. If Steve
Austin shows up here again, I hope that somebody from Team WWF...
They should get some damn security round here, to keep him out of
       the arena!

Ross - Well, it's a one to nothing lead for ECW, with Sycho Sid,
probably the most powerful of the WWF team, on the losing end of
this match. I've just heard right now, that Rob Van Dam is waiting
       backstage.

Van Dam - Did you see that? One- nothing! Ha. Sycho Sid, was without
doubt, the only member of Team WWF powerful enough to cause
a problem for us, and with him out of the way, it's as good
as over. I've got total faith in the rest of my pals, and this
is gonna be the greatest night in ECW history. It's our night
          to shine baby!

Ross - Welcome back everybody. We've gotta turn our attentions now to
the Legion Of Doom, and their problems recently. Animal, as
you remember, walked out on Hawk this past Monday night, his
frustration at the events of the past few weeks obviously
getting to him. WWF officials, hoping to get them back together,
signed these two teams back together again for here tonight.

Finkel - The following contest, is a tag team attraction, and it
is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, at a total
combined weight of four hundred and sixty three pounds, Bart
Gunn, Bob Holly, The New Midnight Express!

Finkel - And their opponents, at a combined weight of five hundred
and sixty two pounds, Road Warrior Hawk, Road Warrior Animal,
         The Legion Of Doom!

The L.O.D. come to the ring seperately for this match.

The Legion Of Doom vs The New Midnight Express

As seems to be the custom for New Midnight Express matches, Bob Holly starts off, this time against Hawk. After the two men lock up, Holly immediately takes it to the outside. After a good minute if outer ring brawling, the action returns to the ring. Hawk is able to press slam Holly, and then knocks him down with a clothesline when he gets back to his feet. Holly is grabbed in an arm twist, and then Hawk motions to make the tag to Animal. Animal deliberates for a moment, and then makes the tag!

Animal is a house of fire as he works on Holly, also taking time out to punk Bart Gunn in the corner several times. The LOD dominates this match all the way, with the everything the Express tries, failing to come off. The Road Warriors look as good as ever as they finish Bart Gunn off with the Doomsday Device in just over ten minutes.

The Legion Of Doom defeated The New Midnight Express when Animal pinned Bart Gunn in 11-04 --- **

Ross - Now that's the kind of thing that's gonna cheer me up, and one
of the things that's gonna make this a night to remember.
Hopefully, everyone on Team WWF is gonna be as commited and
dedicated as those two men right there were. We've gotta move
quickly along though and the next contest tonight, will be match
two of the series. Booker T and Taz. Let's go backstage where
       Taz is standing by.

Taz - I'm just gonna say that the ECW team is 100% united tonight,
and after I finish winning my match, I'm gonna be right behind
Shane Douglas in the next match. Booker T? You're going down
my friend. Tonight, I'm gonna give ECW it's exposure, in the way
      only I can!

Camera switches to another part of the backstage area where we see Jeff Jarrett leave his dressing room and step into the elavator. Michael Cole tries to get a word with him, but the elavator door shuts in his face.

Finkel - Our next contest is scheduled for one fall, and is the
second match in the ECW vs WWF series, with the score
currently one nothing to the ECW team. Introducing first,
representating Team ECW, from Queens, New York, weighing two
hundred and twenty one pounds, "The Human Suplex Machine", Taz!

Finkel - His opponent, representing Team WWF, from Harlem, New York,
weighing two hundred and fifty pounds, Booker T!

(ECW/WWF Match Two) Booker T vs Taz

Booker T anihilates Taz in this match, literally destroying him in the short span of time this match lasts. Taz gets next to no offence in as Booker takes him out. One word : Squash.

Booker T pinned Taz after the Missile Dropkick in 3-02 --- **.25

(ECW and WWF are tied at one all)

Ross - The series is tied!

King - Things are dead set now, three matches left. Jarrett/Candido,
       Benoit/Bigelow and Michaels/Douglas. I'm gonna admit I fancy
Team WWF's chances from here on in.

Ross - Certainly, a potentially disastrous start for the World
Wrestling Federation was averted there. A two nothing
disadvantage woul spell trouble. We're not too far away now
from Jeff Jarrett's first match of the evening, The Rock's
second, for the European Title. But first, cruiserweight action!

Finkel - This next contest is scheduled for one fall, and is a
special bonus match! Introducing first, from Mexico City,
Mexico, weighing one hundred and eighty six pounds, Juventud
         Guerra!

Finkel - His opponent comes from San Diego, California, weighing one
hundred and forty pounds, a former WWF Cruiserweight champion,
         Rey Mysterio Jr!

Rey Mysterio Jr vs Juventud Guerra

The special bonus match of the evening sees an array of aerial moves. Both men however, start of slow, and are content to punch away at each other for almost the full first minute. Business starts to pick up though, when Mysterio hits Juventud with a springboard hurracanrana for a two count. That opens the floodgates so far as lucha moves go.

Guerra gets close to a three count with a top rope Frankensteiner soon after, whilst in reply, Mysterio hits one of his own (not simultaneously of course). Mysterio draws a lot of heat and a lot of WHOOO'S! from the crowd as he begins to chop away on Guerra during the match. Mysterio is clearly the crowd favourite in this one. A top rope German suplex from Rey has the crowd on it's feet, but the resulting pin attempt is unsuccessful, as Juve kicks out at two and a half. A dragon suplex from Guerra nearly gives him a win, but both men are as resilliant as each other, and they both continue to kick out of each others pin attempts.

In the end though, there has to be a finish. Unless it's a ten minute time limit draw. Like this match.

Juventud Guerra and Rey Mysterio Jr fought to a draw in 10-00 --- ****.25

Both athletes are given a standing ovation from the crowd.

Ross - Another great match there, offering a pleasant distraction from
the tension that is building up in this arena.

King - I think it's boring as hell JR. I'm sitting here, wondering
about my job being on the line, and we have to sit here through
       two Brian Christopher-wannabes. It's pathetic.

Ross - A reminder, that tomorrow night, be it ECW or WWF programming,
Cruiserweight Champion Brian Christopher will defend against
former champion Psychosis. Before our next match up, let's take a
look at the events on Raw this past week.

(Clips of the Owen/Jarrett match and aftermatch from March 23rd Raw)

Ross - This is gonna be a great match I'm sure. For the European title,
The Rock against Team WWF member Jeff Jarrett!

Finkel - The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and is the
final match in the European Title Tournament! Introducing
first, from Memphis, Tennesse, weighing two hundred and thirty
four pounds, Team WWF member, Double J, Jeff Jarrett!

Finkel - And his opponent, from Miami, Florida, weighing two hundred
and seventy two pounds, The Rock, Rocky Maivia!

(European Title Final) Jeff Jarrett vs Rocky Maivia

With two ego's as big as these two men's, this was gonna be a hard match to watch. Both men actually get into a strutting contest within the first thirty seconds. If the approval of the fans was anything to go by, then both guys suck. It's The Rock however, who has the early wrestling advantage, wrestling his second match of the night obviously not having too much effect on him, although it will be interesting to see how the match progresses.

The Rock sends Jarrett into the ropes and catches him with a clothesline. He then drops an elbow (not that elbow) into Jarretts face and then covers, but doesn't even get two. Jarrett is quick to his feet and he, after a whip reversal into the ropes, hooks The Rock into an abdominal stretch. Rock won't quit however and grabs the top rope relatively quickly. The match continues it's rather slow start as soon after, Jarrett catches The Rock in a sleeper. Maivia's arm stays up on the third attempt, and Rocky elbows his way out of the hold. A suplex from The Rock sends JJ to the mat, and then Maivia hits the real Peoples Elbow for a two count.

The Rock is angry at what he believes was a slow referee's count, and he proceeds to hit the Peoples Elbow again. When Jarrett once again kicks out, The Rock gets frustrated and hurls Jarrett to the outside. As he sends JJ into the guardrail, he explains to him that "pieces of trash like him oughta lay down like a dog when the Rock tells him". Maivia goes to suplex Jarrett on the concrete floor, but Jarrett reverses it and pretty soon after The Rock is holding his back in agony.

After Jarrett throws Maivia back into the ring, JJ signals to the crowd and locks on the figure four leglock in the centre of the ring. The Rock appears close to passing out several times during the two minutes he is locked in the hold for. Eventually, somehow The Rock manages to find the strength to pull himself and Jarrett closer to the ropes and grab on. Jarrett is reluctant to break the hold, and has to be physically pulled off by the referee.

Jarrett is frustrated now too, and he berates the official. The ref shouts back at him too, and the two men get into a heated argument. Both men are knocked down to the canvas though, as the Rock comes up behind JJ and knocks him down, Jarrett then falling on the referee. Maivia picks Jarrett up and executes The Rock Bottom, but there'e no referee to count. Rocky shakes his head in disgust and gets up to try and wake up the referee. Before he can though, Dustin Runnels appears out of the crowd and delivers a crushing bulldog on the Rock! He then jumps out of the ring and then leaves up the rampway, but not before placing Jarrett on top of the unconscious Rock. The referee is then soon to awake, and after the three count, Jarrett is the European Champion!

Jeff Jarrett pinned Rocky Maivia in 14-27 --- ***.75

(Jeff Jarrett won the vacant European Title)

King - Dustin Runnels? We haven't seen him in months!

Ross - At the Royal Rumble, he told Maivia that he'd get some revenge.
       Wait, he's standing by backstage!

Runnels - Rock, I told you I would get back at you, when you least
expect it. Over the last two months, I realised what I had
to do to get ahead in this industry. First, I had to get
even with you. Second, I needed to step out of my fathers
shadow, step out of his legacy, and start my own legacy! The
legacy, the legend of Dustin Runnels is gonna start tommorow
night. And it won't stop until I'm the undisputed world
champion. Nothing personal Rock, just something I had to do.

Ross - Dustin Runnels returning to the WWF! A legacy starting
tommorow night? Also, to clarify, Jeff Jarrett is the European
Champion, unless Team WWF is defeated overall tonight,
therefore JJ would have to leave the WWF. What would happen
then, I don't know. I don't care either, for that matter. Our
next match, is undoubtedly the most anticipated of all the
ECW/WWF matches. Shane Douglas against the World Wrestling
Federation champion, Shawn Michaels. Let's go back and show you
what happened when these two met at In Your House!

(Finish to the Douglas/Michaels match from Feb IYH is shown)

Ross - And that was really when this whole darned mess got started.

King - Well this match is the big one JR. This is Shane Douglas'
chance to prove that he can beat Shawn Michaels, and that he is
a better wrestler. He's failed to pin him twice in the last two
months, can he do it tonight?

Ross - We're about to find out.

Finkel - This next contest, is the third match in the ECW vs WWF
series, tied at one win apiece, and is scheduled for one fall.
Introducing first, representing ECW, from Pittsburgh, PA,
weighing two hundred and twenty three pounds, "The Franchise"
         Shane Douglas!

Finkel - And his opponent, representing Team WWF, from San Antonio,
Texas and weighing in at two hundred and thirty four pounds,
the World Wrestling Federation Champion, Shawn Michaels!

(ECW/WWF Series Match Three) Shawn Michaels vs Shane Douglas

The most anticapated match of the evening gets underway with Shawn Michaels and Douglas immediately going to the outside. Douglas sends HBK into the ringsteps and then picks up the ring bell from ringside. Douglas goes to hit Michaels with it, but HBK blocks it, takes the bell for himself, and smashes it into Douglas' skull. The referee lets it go, apparently using his better judgement to just let these two guys go at it.

Douglas falls to the concrete holding his head in his hands as Michaels stomps on him. HBK hits him with the bell to the back, before the referee finally takes the bell away. Douglas meanwhile, has a steel chair in hand and he blasts Michaels with it. With only around two minutes gone in the match, both men are busted open. Eventually the ref manages to get rid of the weapons, and the match moves to the ring.

In the ring, Michaels and Douglas lock up. Douglas sends Michaels crashing to the mat. HBK smirks at this, motions to turn away, and then superkicks Douglas! In an unprecedented event, Douglas gets his shoulder up at 2.9, and Michaels is in disbelief. Shaking his head, Michaels picks Douglas up, slams him, and then climbs to the top turnbuckle. His attempted top rope elbowdrop is unsuccessful though, as Douglas wipes the blood from his eyes in time to see what Michaels was doing, and rolls out of the way. Douglas gets to his feet first and pulls Michaels up by the hair and sends him into the ropes, catching him in a sleeper as he bounces back. Michaels' hand drops once and drops twice, but stays up on the third attempt, and the referee makes Douglas break the hold.

Out of the sleeper, both men trade blows for the next few minutes, neither man taking any risks, confident that their opponent will make a mistake. No mistakes are made for a good few minutes though, and the match progresses with barely any real incident for a while. At the nine minute mark, Michaels pulls himself out of an abdominal stretch, turns, and blasts Douglas with another superkick! Douglas' momentum carries him to the outside of the ring, where Bam Bam Bigelow and Chris Candido have arrived to give some assistance. They help Douglas up, but Douglas sends them back to the locker room, telling them he needs to do it by himself. Bam Bam and Candido reluctantly comply, and Douglas is about to re-enter the ring, until Michaels launches himself from the top turnbuckle to the outside on Douglas.

Both men beat the referees ten count, and Michaels continues to go to work on Douglas. After a non stop beating, Douglas appears to be out on his feet. Michaels moves to the top rope, ready to launch an axehandle. He jumps from the top, but Douglas catches him and executes the belly to belly suplex! 1-2-3, the match is over.

Shane Douglas pinned Shawn Michaels with the belly to belly suplex in 10-19 --- ***.75

(ECW leads the series 2-1)

Ross - My God! He just beat the WWF Champion, with no assistance what
       so ever!

King - I don't like this one bit JR. You know it's pretty rare I
have anything good to say about Shawn Michaels, but I admit
that he's one of the greatest, if not the greatest wrestler in
       the WWF right now and....

Ross - I guess we just gotta put all our faith now into Chris Benoit
and Jeff Jarrett. I believe Chris Benoit is standing by backstage
       right now.

Benoit - I just saw what happened there with Shawn Michaels, and you
guys are right when you say it's a huge blow. But all I can do
now, is go out there and kick Bigelow's butt and square the
series. Jeff Jarrett? Don't let us down man.

Finkel - The following contest is the fourth and possibly deciding match
in the series, and it is scheduled for one fall. Introducing
first, representing ECW, hailing from Asbury Park, New Jersey,
weighing three hundred and sixty eight pounds, the World
Wrestling Federation Intercontinental Champion Bam Bam Bigelow!

Finkel - And his opponent, representing Team WWF, from Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada, weighing in at two hundred and eighteen pounds,
         Chris Benoit!

(ECW/WWF Series Match Four) Chris Benoit vs Bam Bam Bigelow

These two men are certainly no strangers to each other, having clashed heads several times over the past few months. As happened in other matches earlier tonight, the action immediatley goes to the outside. Benoit throws Bigelow out, and then jumps out onto him with a tope suicida. Benoit lands awkwardly however, and Bigelow gains the advantage. He tries for a powerbomb, but Benoit blocks and backdrops Bam Bam onto the concrete.

After throwing Bigelow back into the ring, Benoit chops away like a butcher on Bigelow, drawing large tributes to Flair from the crowd. The Crippler goes up top when he fails Bigelow is winded enough, but we never get to know what Benoit was attempting, as Bigelow crotches him on the turnbuckle. Benoit then falls from the turnbuckle back out to the concrete floor. Bigelow climbs the turnbuckles and attempts some kind of offensive manoueveur to the outside, but Benoit moves out of the way, and Bigelow goes straight into the guardrail.

The referee's count is slow enough for both men to beat it quite easily and the action restarts rather slowly back in the ring. Bigelow sends Benoit into the ropes, floors him with a clothesline, and then hits him with a splash off the ropes. Benoit's career is on the line however, and it's gonna take more than a splash to dispose of him. Bigelow has control over this match for over three minutes from this point on, but Benoit just won't give up. Top rope headbutt - kick out at two. Top rope splash - kick out at two. Superplex - kick out at two. Considering the frustration that should be going through Bam Bam at this point, he looks suprisingly cool at the moment.

Benoit finally gets some offence in after reversing a suplex, and he tries desperately to build some form of attack. He chops away on Bigelow, sending the big man reeling before taking the big man down with a legsweep, and hooking on the Crippler Crossface! Bigelow tries in vain to get to the ropes, but it's no good! Bigelow taps out, and the series is tied!

Chris Benoit defeated Bam Bam Bigelow with the Crippler Crossface in 14-03 --- ****.25

(ECW and WWF are tied at two each)

Ross - What an amazing match right there! The series is tied at two
apiece, and we've got one match left!

King - This is incredible JR. The tension in this building right now
       is unbelievable!

Ross - Well we can move along right now and go straight to the final match!

Finkel - Ladies and gentleman, unless this match ends in a draw, then
this is the final match of the evening, and is match five in
the ECW vs WWF series! Introducing first, representing Extreme
Championship Wrestling, fighting from Carteret, New Jersey,
weighing two hundred and twenty six pounds, Chris Candido!

Finkel - And his opponent, representing the World Wrestling Federation,
from Memphis, Tennesse, weighing two hundred and thirty four
         pounds, Double J, Jeff Jarrett!

(ECW/WWF Series Match Five) Jeff Jarrett vs Chris Candido

Jarrett and Candido circle the ring for about thirty seconds before Jarrett leaves the ring and grabs a microphone from ringside.

Jarrett - Ha ha. Hold it. Now Jeff Jarrett and ECW's plan is gonna work
out perfectly. You see, Double J has been with these people
since the beginning. Ever since January 5th, when the Triple
Threat first arrived in the WWF. What I got, I got me an ECW
contract, so should I lose tonight, I'm all taken care of.
Prepare to kiss the World Wrestling Federation goodbye, and
          say...

Vince McMahon appears at the top of the ramp and jogs to the ring.

Vince - What in the hell is going on here? What are you doing?

Jarrett - Vince, what I'm doin', is the same damn thing you tried to
do to my father, and to all the other promoters and promotions
in the past twenty years. I'm shutting your ass down.

Jarrett lays down on the mat and Candido goes down and covers him. The referee in the ring falls to the mat and makes the count. Before he can count three however, McMahon grabs the ref by the back of his shirt and pulls him up. Jarrett and Candido are about to attack McMahon when suddenly Steve Austin jumps the guardrail and hits the ring. He stunners Candido, and then stunners Jarrett! Austin drags Jarrett's unconscious body onto Candido's and then leaves the ring. The referee then falls to the mat again, hits the canvas three times, and it's all over!
